The globalized world economy is facing a new paradigm, which is Competitiveness. One of the most important factors affecting competitiveness is Logistics.
The correct meaning of the term logistics comes from the Greek "Logistikos", which means skilled in calculating, with an eye to cost efficiency. Therefore logistics have to have a systemic approach, from the products’ origin to final destination, internally and externally, and must cover the entire supply chain, ie, supply, transportation, taxes, distribution, bureaucracy and mainly managerial efficiency. The speed of changes in each item in the supply chain requires companies to use “tools” that allow them to make sound decisions, based upon reliable parameters.
